Ingredients

  • 8 Fish Fillets To cut the cost of the fish cut larger fillets into two pieces.
  • 1 ½ Cups Flour
  • 4 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • ½ Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 ½ Cups Water
  • 4 Cups Vegetable Oil for Frying

Instructions

  • Sift flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Mix water with dry ingredients.
  • Coat the fish fillets with the batter.
  • Deep fry in 350° oil until golden brown.

Notes

  • Another variation of this recipe is that the batter can also be used to coat chicken fillets.
  • Tartar sauce to use as a dip is a tasty addition to this meal.
  • The leftovers from this type of coating are easy to reheat in a microwave or in the oven on a low setting.
